First phase of the Project in Quepos is built for 100 berths
Total investment will overcome $50 millions
Finished project will generate around 3,000 indirect job positions
The biggest marina in the world is about to open its doors expecting to reactivate the economy and the employment in the zone of Quepos where its located.
Its magnitude is such that you can place 25 soccer fields in just the area for the boats.
We are talking about Marina Pez Vela, that will inaugurate the first phase this year. This will allow the increasing tourist movement and the local personnel hiring.
To start, there will be only 22 people, however; once the project is finished, it is estimated to have 315 workers that could be part of the personnel in the marina. The indirect hiring will round 3,000 people.

All of the above is the estimation made because; besides the berths, this project will have with many different services which its construction is divided in three stages.
The first stage will open in a few months. It consists in 100 berths, the station to supply gas to the boats and other basic services to operate.
The second stage is going to have other 200 berths and a repair yard.
The third stage that will be finished in April 2013, is the construction of restaurants, stores, hotels, 200 residencies and other structures that will allow nautical services.
The investment for the construction of both phases reaches the sum of $50 million “most of the investors are Costa Ricans”, commented HArodl Lovelady, Marina partner.
The berths have the capacity for boats up to 200 feet long and the rent or sale of the space varies according to the length of the boat. One of the biggest spaces was sold to a boat of 167 feet long for $1,2 million.
“I imagine that this person who lives in the United States will spend in Costa Rica around $9 million annually, just having his boat ducked”, said Lovelady.
The next biggest marina in the country is Marina Bahia Escondida, in Golfito, which investment rounds $55million and will have the capacity of 341 berths.
In Costa Rica operate three marinas Bahía Banano in Golfito, Marina Los Sueños and the first stage of Marina Papagayo.
