Emir of Qatar subscribe economical agreements with Costa Rica

Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Jalifa Al Thani

The Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Jalifa Al Thani, got together this Monday with Costa Rica President, Oscar Arias. They subscribe tourism, commerce and investment agreements. They also included a memorandum of political consultations.

The Emir is attending an invitation from the President of Costa Rica. He arrived to the country at noon joined by a numerous entourage and stays in the Four Seasons Hotel, located in the province of Guanacaste where the Costa Rica Real Estate investments have had a boom in the past years.

After the meeting, the governors and the ministers of both nations subscribe four deals that heads towards a political closeness and an intensification of their economical relations, pointed the Costa Rican authorities.

One of the documents is a memorandum to establish permanent political consultations, in both sides the bilateral and multilateral scenes”, said Alejandro Solano, Exterior Politics of Costa Rica.

There is also a cooperation agreement in the tourism sector which constitutes an instrument to impulse tourism in both senses and promotes the investments in this field. The real estate sector should be proud to be part of these achievements when the Costa Rica properties will be in the eye of those investors.

The agreement leaves open the possibility to open tourism offices and even establish non-stop flights between Qatar and Costa Rica, “even though these are things that will be managed in the future,” pointed Solano.

The other two agreements are referred to investments and the commercial exchange among both countries.

These agreements will allow, especially for Costa Rica, to “initiate the exploration on the Qatar market to check on the possibilities to bring some products”, but it also opens the door to seven or eight more countries from the Persian Gulf, which can be a very attractive market, said Solano.

The Sheikh Hamad bin Jalifa Al Thani concludes a Latin American tour that included Argentina, Brazil, and Venezuela, countries in which he also subscribe economical and commercial agreements.

This oncoming between Costa Rica and Qatar is part of a diplomatic and commercial opening with the Arabic countries that President Oscar Arias assumed when he got to the power in 2006.
