The first steps was given, San José  will have the new sewage system that will treat all the wastewater of the capital, so pollution in the metropolitan area rivers is going to stop being a problem for future generations. Now the Costa Rica properties in the area will be sold with this feature added. 

This ambitious project counts with 360 kilometers of a new system and it will be working totally in the year 2015. Its cost will go over the $270 million. Some $150 million will be granted through a credit with the Japanese Bank for International Cooperation.  

The people in charge of this work is the consortium French-Japanese NJS-Sogreah that started evaluating, diagnosing and designing the  sewerage that will pick all the wastewater up in the metropolitan area. The initial cost is agreed in $17 million already granted. 

Thanks to this, Costa Rica is still in the run towards a sustainable development by preserving nature and cleaning its waters. Besides, it gives a better urban planning in the Central Valley that goes hand by hand with the urban resettlement that is being practiced.
