This last January the Daniel Oduber Airport experimented the highest entries with a total of 31 600 people, this number represents an increase of 28% compared to the same period of 2010.

Besides this was the highest income ever experinced in the history of this airport.

The last record was on March 2008, with a total of 29 206 people, this way the behavior of January beated the last record.

This rising number of tourists could be due to the amount of commercial flights to this mentioned airport from places like North America and Europe.

The flights majorly came from Chicago and Denver from USA; Montreal, Canada; London, England and Dusseldorf of Germany, among others. These countries may have transported about 1000 passengers weekly during the high season.

During the the last January there was a total 42 weekly flights, that is six more than the same month of 2010, which means in increase of around 14%.

Additionally the behavior was similar in February because the aiport allowed 53 weekly flights, this means that compared with February 2010 there was an increase of 25%.

This increasing number of tourists, compared with the last years, make the industry thought that the market will be more active this years.

This growing market in the second-largest airport allows the country to think that this 2011 will be a good year for the national tourism.

But this isn't perceived yet by hoteliers, tour operators, rent a cars and other companies that are related with the tourism sector.

One of the reasons it's that the tourist are staying and spending less money, besides the type of change harms the income of the companies.
