Market created more tan 27,000 job positions last January according to the numbers from the CCSS

The country recovered the lost jobs

Jobs with low earning like construction or domestic services are still in negative numbers.

The unemployment issue must been swallowed for the local economy. The crisis left a balance over the 23,000 loses of job positions, but last January, those were recovered and there will be a minimum balance left.

When comparing the situation that the market had in October 2008 with the current one, the country earned more than 27,000 job positions according to the statistics in the Caja Costarricense del Seguro Social, CCSS (Costa Rican Chamber of Social Security).

Even the variation is 2,21% favorable, it is also sufficient to give the chance to all next year’s university graduates, or simply those who look for an occupation.

The average rate of the increasing of the labor force is 3%, however; the growing observed will be enough to drop the numbers of unemployment.

One of the characteristics is that the low earning jobs such as construction and domestic work, are the ones still in negative numbers.

However, the agro-industry, commerce and other services, like the ones offered by the contact centers installed in the country, are the kind of job positions that rised up in personnel, according to the Caja.

Data matches with the measurements of the economical activity done by the Central Bank, which has seen a reactivation of those productive sectors, with the exception of construction that still doesn’t take the lead.

“There are variables like the tax rates that are given an stimulus to the agro sector, for example. At any moment, this optimism of the financial sector will encourage the growing of the industry and the construction”, considered Martín Parada, Director of the Economics School at the Universidad Nacional (UNA), in Spanish.
