The new coming minister from the Public Works and Transportation (MOPT, in Spanish), Francisco Jiménez, is promising the residents of San Carlos to find the financing for the four lane highway that has been promised and no one in the latest governments have concreted it.
The new minister, following a meeting with residents on Friday, promised to restart work on the road that was stopped two weeks ago due to lack of financing. Or at least that is what the government told residents.
In turn, the residents have decided to put a stop to the protests for at least two weeks.
Jiménez was appointed last week by president-elect Laura Chinchilla for her administration to begin on May 8.
However, since Marco Vargas, the MOPT minister in the Arias administration is moving on to the Ministry of Presidency in the Chinchilla administration, Chinchilla asked president Arias to replace Vargas with Jiménez to allow Vargas some personal time before he begins his new task.
